Dr. Nuno Marques Luís

Dr. Nuno Marques Luís is a dedicated orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee pathology at the Knee, Ankle & Sports Traumatology Unit of the Centre of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Hospital CUF Descobertas in Lisbon. Since joining the Knee Unit in 2018, he has been a key contributor in delivering advanced patient care and surgical excellence.

With strong academic credentials, he holds a Master’s in Orthopaedics – Locomotor System Pathology from the University of Jaén and is currently pursuing a PhD in Cellular Therapies and Regenerative Medicine at Técnico Lisboa, focused on meniscus repair and regeneration.

His core areas of expertise include knee and ankle arthroscopy, sports-related knee injuries, ligamentoplasties (both anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments), meniscal repair and transplantation, knee arthroplasty and revision surgeries, and corrective osteotomies for knee deformities. He is particularly passionate about meniscal roots and has been instrumental in introducing therapeutic techniques and principles in this evolving area.

Academically active, Dr. Marques Luís has authored several scientific publications—including work on lower limb alignment and meniscal repair—and presented at national and international conferences. His contributions also include co-leading sessions for the Portuguese Society for the Study of Knee Pathology (SPEJ), where he discussed criteria for treating medial collateral ligament injuries.
